Living for LAX (not laxative)

Everybody has something that gives them more of a personality – some people play soccer, some people ride horses and some people swim. I play lacrosse – that’s my superpower. Playing a sport makes you unique in a lot of ways. It makes you athletic; it makes you healthier and it gives you power. Some people find it to be really sad when they go to play their sport at a tournament or game of some sort and they don’t get much playing time. It’s different for me. Lacrosse has been such a dream for me that even just standing on the sidelines and watching other people play makes me happy. Everything about lacrosse makes me happy.

Touching a stick, watching highlight videos on YouTube, anything that involves the word Lacrosse makes me happy. I don’t know what my life would be like today if I didn’t have lacrosse. You may know I play for a club team called
Brady’s Bunch. This team was formed in honor of Brady who has had cancer and has not been feeling very good along the way. I love playing for that team because the coaches and all the players are super kind. As you may know, not too long ago I had a liver biopsy because I was having some liver issues. I’m OK now but Brady’s Bunch gave me a place to play as soon as I was able. They gave me the opportunity to play almost every game – both the A and the B teams. As a result I came out two weekends ago and I scored three goals in both days, which was just a blast for me.

When I hear the word lacrosse I think of scoring, people sweating, people working hard. Most of all I think of sliding across that grass going for a ground ball, getting muddy, wet and scratched, going to goal and scoring. I can
smell victory whenever I hear the word lacrosse. Lacrosse gives me a certain type of ego boost. I know that no matter what happens to me in terms of my health, doctors appointments or going for a procedure or hospitalization, I have something to look forward to. I have a reason to keep my head up and keep a positive attitude.

Lacrosse is one of the best things that ever happened to me and I don’t know where I’d be today if I didn’t have it. I will never be able to repay all the people who helped me learn the game, but I want them to know how grateful I am.
